In getting or hiring driving instructors, one should always see if the instructor is a "qualified driving instructors" or "approved driving instructors" (ADI). DSA (Driving Standards Agency) is the agency that administers qualifying this instructors and authorizes them to teach driving lessons. They are required to passed a rigid theoretical and practical exams themselves to test whether they deserve to be called driving instructors and is capable of teaching in a driving school. Although for an aspiring applicant getting an ADI is not a requirement for you to take when taking the licensee exams. There is no concrete rule or guidelines that requires you to go to a driving school or hire an ADI yourself. You have the option to get a licensed driver to act as your driving instructors. You just need to ensure that the one who will teach you how to drive has provided you adequate knowledge and skills that would ensure you to pass the driving exams and practical test that DSA would be requiring you to correctly answer. That is why getting an ADI is an added advantage for you, if you choose to get or hire them, you have a higher probability that you would pass the licensee exams. ADIs are required to undergo continuing exams from time to time to test his reliability and integrity as an instructor. They are being regulated by the government to comply and get familiarized with the knowledge on laws and learning skills in driving as well. So in becoming a responsible licensed driver yourself one should try to choose getting educated by a proficient driving instructor or get yourself from enrolling in a competent driving school.
