Any person who wants to learn driving a vehicle has to pass a driving test. It is only after the successful completion of this test that a driver’s license is issued to an individual. An authorised transport officer usually conducts the driving test. The person willing to learn driving registers himself with a driving school. The school then enrolls the person for the driving lessons course.
The driving school teaches the person the necessary driving skills. They also provide the students with proper study materials, which may also include printed notes. The student makes use of these notes and learns the basics of driving. Once the teacher feels that the student has understood everything, he may take the student out on the street on a special tutor car.
The tutor car is usually a van, which has an extra pair of clutch and brakes. The instructor who accompanies the student in the passenger seat uses these extra utilities. It is usually done for the safety of others. Whenever the instructor feels that the student is not driving safely he applies the extra brakes and even advises the student on what he has done wrong. This ensures that the occupants of the pedestrians and other vehicles on the street are safe.
Theory lessons are also provided, which guides the students aware of safer driving practices. This usually consists of the light signals and other road safety guidelines, which a driver is expected to follow. Also, tips on what to do when trailing a big van are provided. These big vans are usually slow moving and proper light signals have to be used to attract the driver’s attention. The van driver may also use specific indicator lamps on his tail lamps. Complete knowledge about the same is provided to the students.
Lessons also include what to do to be safe in case of emergencies. The occupants of a car can remain safe if they wear seat belts at all times. Also, now-a-days cars come with air bags for extra safety in case of accidents. Thus, the study matter covers all types of things, which a driver is expected to know. Once the training is complete, the driver is given a theory test. It is compulsory for every student to appear and pass this theory test. On successful completion of the theory test, a practical test is also taken to test the driving skills of the student. Once the transport officer is convinced that the student has learnt the art of driving, he will issue him with a driver’s license. This license signifies that the student has learnt driving and is eligible to take a car out on his own.
